Saturday morning this and that
Not everything is horrible. Most of it, yes. But not all of it.
There is a distinct lack of lamentation for the departure today of Justin Pierre James Trudeau.
**
I am relieved that Trudeau is gone.
Carney's decision to hold off meeting Trump is an interesting one. Not sure if it's the right decision, but it's a decision.
**
Mark Carney is your new Prime Minister.
Given the number of Trudeau folks at his swearing-in, I assume he's not running on a "change" platform.
**
Reduction in size makes this a very notable cabinet swearing-in.
Carney walked up to the swearing-in without a big entourage, on his own. Smart optics. Back to business, pomp and circumstance is bullshit, etc. Smart.
**
I find it completely bizarre that Carney did not include Karina Gould in his cabinet. She cleaned his clock in two debates. I would hope that's not why.

This country is not broken. This country is a great country.

Former Conservative leader Andrew Scheer claims we in the media “refused” to cover the Trudeau blackface story.
That is a lie. He is lying.
The blackface story was covered like it was the moon landing, by everyone.
Scheer is flat-out lying. From Speaker of the House to a liar chasing clicks. Sad.

How Trump is killing Poilievre's chances:
• tariff fight eats up all media coverage
• fight involves governments, not Opposition
• Trump attacks on Liberals help Liberals
• Poilievre sounds Trumpy ("Canada broken")
• His party actually is Trumpy
**
S&P since Trump was elected. So much winning.

Donald Trump, who says he is a friend to the Jews - and has taken to saying who is a “real” Jew - pardoned this guy in his first week.
**
Pausing retaliation in exchange for a "new deal" with Trump is a mistake.
We already have a trade agreement with him. He signed it. He broke it.
His word isn't worth shit. Keep applying pressure. Don't let up.
**
Tired of people speculating about Trump's motives, etc.? Here's my approach, gratis.
• when you accept he's a Russian asset, everything he does make sense
• react to what he does, not what he says
• nothing is going to get better until the midterms
You're welcome.

"Globalist" is an antisemitic trope.

Mark Carney has tweeted that Israel should keep sending Gaza electricity for free. The irony, here, of course, is Carney is suggesting Israel be compelled to provide electricity to Gaza - on the very same day he has applauded Ontario for threatening to cut off electricity to the United States.
Like I say: ironic.

Someone I've never met, never talked to, never heard of - local school board trustee Alison Kelly - took a gratuitous swipe at me online. Weird.
Then I saw she was an NDP candidate and got it. Warren and the Jooooos, isn't it?

Oh, and please come to this.
Glad you also think Trump is a Russian asset. It's the only explanation that makes sense out of most of his seemingly nonsensical policies and rants.
Wow… that’s a lot. I’m amazed at how much I strongly agreed with.
Here’s what you got wrong (er… I mean, I disagree with).
Carney not running on a “change” platform.
- It’s an interesting thought. Two main elements of any successful project (beyond the plan and the resources) are leadership and approach. Based on those elements we have already, potentially, seen a big change.
- Perhaps more interesting (and a slight twist) on the notion of “change,” however, is that Carney will be doing less trying to change us as a people. Trudeau’s approach assumed Canadians were all very progressive and if you weren’t you either needed to change or you were in the way. I think that is what led, in the end, to many people tiring of him.
Karina Gould not in cabinet is bizarre
- She had some good moments. That doesn’t make her cabinet material. She’s gained some profile and will be there when the party inevitably swings back left.
Andrew Sheer lies
- LOL, a ha ha ha ha, sorry… the man opened with a lie about having an adult job before politics. I don’t even think Poilievre has claimed that - has he?
Electricity for Gaza
- Come on. Just because there’s electrical current involved doesn’t make these similar situations. To find irony there requires an intellectual bypass.
An Evening with Warren Kinsella at the Beth Tikvah Synagogue
- I’d go but I’m in BC.
