Sorry Warren but that's another cheap shot on Poilievre. The reasons he lost his own seat are more nuanced and you know it. And the reasons Conservatives have stuck with him -- so far -- are also nuanced. They've seen what happens when they change leaders like Trudeau changes his novelty socks, and they're in it for the long haul. As for the "30 point lead" it was based on a massive repudiation of the ineffably bad Trudeau, and the Liberals masterfully used poorly supported trump-scare character assassination to claw their way back to a minority government when superficially "better" Mark Carney took over. Being a fair man, I really hope Carney IS better. MUCH better. But you gotta admit it looks like maybe a C+ for him so far. I get it: you don't like Poilievre. But as a journalist I respect, please bring something substantive to your attacks on him, not just more Lib cheap shots. I and other small-c readers WILL be listening. If you can make a good case for who should be stepping into Pierre's shoes and why, then some of us moderate conservatives WILL be paying attention.

Well said.

I voted for Trudeau the first snd only time, Leader yes, but not political leader material.

As i read someplace when someone shows you who they are NOT, believe them.

Carney, im not sure about yet. Maybe after G7 or a small budget??

Hes promised a tax cut, of $800. Thats meaningless, Pierre was thinking something bigger...jmo

So , that could work against him. Maybe. Kind of a joke.

Nothing is realky moving yet. Still feels stagnet. Like the oilers losing haaa

provoking others is a sign of confidence in your ability to knock them out, or in your case shut them up..lol.

Pierre, i think is starting to question, whats left to critized the liberals for..carney has said yes to all his complaints. Nothing left ..is there?

Greta does as she's told, by who ever. I dont think she really understands. But non the less, she shouldn't be there.

Fun read!!! Go oilers.

Greta Thunberg... is she STILL around?? Even though the whole adoring media event built on her disgusted me, my animosity never extended to the child personally. And no, that's not a put-down. She was 15 when she rose to fame, and she had the two traits that were perfectly normal for a youth of good conscience and little experience: zealotry and lack of mature insight into the real world. She was to be commended for caring about the environment and for trying to do something about it. What disgusted me was the shallow political circus that was artfully fashioned from her efforts by politicians and extremists who in actual fact usually wallow in hypocrisy. The energy and resources problems of humanity are massive, with the spectre of economic collapse and mass starvation whenever we try to slow the wheel down. Still we must try, but this is no simple task. How "dare" we? 99.999 percent of us have hardly any choice in it. These political celebrity movements do very little of the tough sledding that really moves us forward. All they do is deepen the divide. Case in point: it is precisely the radical left who got the radical right wingnut trump back in the White House. Ms Thunberg seems to have gone on now to a life of professional young adult radical politics, but who can blame her? In her crucial formative emergence into adulthood no one ever took her aside and told her "Your ambitions and energy are noble dear but these problems are not so simple and you need to work on unifying people, not dividing them". Instead she got heaped with honours, fame, and a net worth well more than any average schlep just trying to pay the rent. No wonder that at just 22 or so she probably thinks she can do no wrong.

Very interesting comment. I see your point about she "does what she's told". It sounds like celebrity and hype were built around her from an early age and very close to home. My gripe is the same one as I have about electoral politics: mass shallow popularity contests where real solutions and good management take a back seat to "image" and mass polarization. It got trump and Carney elected, regardless of what real merits OR faults Harris and Poilievre had. And it made an environmental rock star out of a 15 year old girl before she really had the chance to learn much below the surface. I'm going to contribute to Mr Kinsella's documentary because that's some of that "tough sledding" that tackles real causes and real solutions in at least one of the world's problems. It'll probably only be 50 or 100 unfortunately, and it won't be this week: I have to go buy groceries in Canada that "isn't broken" where most of us ordinary seniors live pension cheque to pension cheque. I managed to improve on that by still staying in business, but the whole private enterprise economy has tanked big time after ten years of Liberals spending like there's no tomorrow. Ironically they're right: there IS no tomorrow for many a small business entrepreneur. I have a ringside seat. A pox on political superstars everywhere. They are invariably about as honest as a three dollar bill. But every day I just shrug, put on a slightly cynical smile, and say "Oh well. What useful idea can I work on today?". So here's to Warren's documentary; a well conceived useful idea, down on the front lines where it counts.

Yeah lol. No gas fueled cars in just 8 more years. And a balanced budget (with a surplus no less) after just three modest deficits in Trudeau's first 4-year term. Surrrre... I believed him.

The problem isn't the merit of their planet saving ambition. The problem is they haven't a clue what they're talking about. The obstacles to going totally electric are huge. Not just the vehicles but really the power grid. Innovations are on the horizon, yes, and if some big time tech entrepreneur (eg. Musk, like him or hate him) said a solution is just around the corner it would have some credibility. But a bunch of career politicians have zero real understanding of technology. Even if they do think they're "visionaries". Let's hope Mr Carney's glorious electric car future works better than the ArriveCan cellphone app or the Phoenix payroll system. I rest my case. 😄
