If Pierre Poilievre’s most grievous offense is saying “Canada is broken”, then he would be destined to lose the election if his worst sin was a getting a parking ticket. He is correct: things that are broken need fixing. If Canadians don’t believe that Canada could benefit from fixing, then we are beyond hope and help.

If Poilievre had said “Canada is broken, but not beyond repair”, would that have made a difference in how he is perceived by his entrenched detractors?

If Canada is broken, the rest of the world must be completely dysfunctional... which it mostly isn't.

The implication was that it was a broken country that needed to be rebuilt after a lost decade. It no longer, according to him, had any redeeming value. Sure it’s all hyperbole but his rage baited followers believed it to their core. In their view it went from one of the best countries in the world to one of the very worst. And there was a demon to blame. And they told us every day.

Trudeau was almost as bad with his “Canada is back” schtick - implying the same thing in reverse. The difference there was that, that dis wasn’t repeated and personalized every day for 10 years. Poilievre may do great things, we’ll see, but to date his absolute biggest achievement was to convince Canadians that the carbon tax was unquestionably bad - and he got it axed. It’s not nothing.

Canada is not, nor was it ever broken, yet Canada can, should and will be better. We just have to do it.

I remember when the "Conservatives" were the "Progressive Conservatives". One can be both, i.e. fiscally conservative yet inclusive and caring for all Canadians.

This has been lost by the Conservative Party of now.

I am voting for Mark Carney. The right person for the job at the right time.

Right now.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the far right.... not in my Canada, eh?!

PP stick around, even if he loses his own seat (a possibility)? A sad commentary on the present state of the once moderate, "big tent" Conservative Party.

the old ways were much friendlier...and not so spiteful and hateful.

We may not be in the US news but Trump sure is here. He's overshadowing our election.

Candidates i think don't want to compete with Trumpy so they are choosing to keep a low profile..trump just makes fun of people...there mist be some media at campaigns..how do we see their speeches.

Harper emerged at Pierres Edmonton site. Pretty big Rockstar stuff! Hes backing Pierre like we didn't know..

30 pt lead gone says to me it was for Trudesu to see. See our displeasure with his government. Worked.. but will they vote Pierre...

Polls vs campaigns numbers.. which to believe?

Debate 10 days vote 20 days. Maybe we'll know after the debate.

I care but i don't!!

Prosperity for canadians..we need that back.. soon

Sad times for many!! Each promising many great things they will do. But we need money and jobs to do them!

And Trump is the cherry on top taking it all away maybe!

Enjoy the doc...
